FERGUS, Ont. – The Fergus Truck Show has once again been named one of the “Top 50 Ontario Festivals” for 2006.

The announcement was made at the recent Ontario Festivals and Events Annual Convention in Niagara Falls. The top 50 festivals were selected through a nomination process that included a pre-determined set of criteria, Fergus Truck Show organizers say.

More than 3,000 festivals are held in Ontario each year. Organizers of the Top 50 Ontario Festivals said the group “takes great pride in honouring these top-notch festivals and events, currently enjoyed each year by our visitors and residents alike.”

Fergus Truck Show director, Sherry Clarke, received a certificate of recognition from Ontario Tourism Minister, Jim Bradley.

“It is an honour to receive this recognition for the third time,” said Fergus Truck Show president, Wayne Billings. “On behalf of the Board of Directors, we are extremely pleased the Fergus Truck Show was selected as a 2006 Top 50 Event.”

Billings added: “This prestigious recognition is the direct result of the devotion and dedication of so very many people – co-sponsors, event sponsors, sponsors, trade show participants, show and shine contestants, truck pullers and the spectators.

“Special acknowledgment and appreciation must be extended to the Fergus Truck Show Board of Directors, the service and support groups and the individual volunteers assisting at the show.”

Fergus now enjoys a reputation as the largest truck show in North America. Attendance at last year’s event came in at more than 54,200. This year’s show will take place July 21-23 in Fergus, Ont.
