TORONTO, Ont. – BACKJACK is a new product designed to provide comfort to drivers who must sit for long periods of time.

It provides temporary relief from lower back pain and even prevents it before it starts, by displacing some of the weight from your back to the back of your seat, according to the manufacturer.

During driving, the operator’s feet are necessarily active, operating brakes, clutch, and accelerator and can’t be used to support or stabilize the lower body as normally occurs when the feet are placed on the floor during normal sitting.

Studies have also shown that the vibrations caused by a moving vehicle on the driver can lead to high spinal loadings in the lower back and result in greater postural discomfort and increased risk of lower back pain and injury.

The sitting position greatly increases pressure on the lower back and spine. Scientific data shows that 40 per cent more weight is imposed on the spine when a person is in a sitting position as opposed to standing.

The BACKJACK will fit waist sizes 28″-54″ and is made of black polycotton twill and Velcro.
