TORONTO, Ont. – Goodyear and Pneus Lavoie have inked a deal involving facilities in Gatineau, Que. and Ottawa, with Lavoie becoming a Goodyear Authorized Retreader, a new Goodyear Truckwise dealer in Ottawa, and owner of Goodyear Canada’s corporate retail and wholesale outlet in Ottawa.

The new Truckwise location will open this November at 1537 Startop Rd. Goodyear’s retread plant in Ottawa will close Oct. 31, after which business will be transferred to the Gatineau retread facility that is being retrofitted with Goodyear retreading equipment.

Prior to the agreement, Normand Lavoie owned and operated Commercial Tire and Battery in Ottawa, and dealership and retread facilities in Gatineau.

“With this agreement we are able to combine resources and expertise that will help position Mr. Lavoie’s business as a leading provider of passenger, commercial, retread and mechancial products and services in the Ottawa market,” said John Howard, vice-president, Goodyear central region.

Discussions began in February. n
