Hoping For Strict Enforcement Of Cell Ban

Dear Editor,

In regards to ‘Ontario announces Oct. 26 enforcement date for cell ban; CBs get three-year grace period’ on www.trucknews.com on Oct. 1.

It was only a matter of time before this law was put into place. Unfortunately, our law enforcement doesn’t have the manpower to enforce the fear of the law into people.

I believe the majority of penalties will be given during accident investigations, (after the fact). Let’s say we all comply. This will eliminate the physical distraction. Our mental distraction will not be reduced and will still create a high risk for accidents.

There will probably never be an absolute cure except for good old common sense. Perhaps that should be a course taught in school today as modern technology is reducing the need for that old-fashioned skill.
