Human factors picks EL screen

PORTLAND, Ore. – When considering a screen for their upgraded Truck Productivity Computer, human factors engineers from DaimlerChrysler Research and Technology North America selected Planar Systems’ electroluminescent (EL) display, hands down.

One of the key areas reviewed by the group was “Glance Time”, which is considered to be a strong indicator of safety amongst driver displays. The engineers decided the threshold for a safe amount of glance time should be less than two seconds. The average time using the EL screen was only 1.41 seconds. n
