Truck News raises Web bar

DON MILLS, Ont. – Truck News/Truck West and Motortruck have reaffirmed their leadership role in delivering trucking industry news via the Internet with the introduction of a new Oracle-based Web site.

“This revamped site improves the functionality we can deliver to our readers,” says John Curran, editor of the site. “The look has been changed very little, yet building off the Oracle platform presents many new opportunities.”

Right away, readers will be able to access printer-friendly versions of news stories posted on the site. As well, stories can easily be shared with another individual, or a group of people, through an automated E-mail system.

“We’ve also improved the level of reader input with a new feature allowing visitors to the site to respond directly to the editorial team with regards to individual stories posted on the site,” adds Curran. These changes closely follow the launch of an on-line Truck Tire Spec’ing Guide, which is co-sponsored by Bandag. “Continually re-investing in the information super highway is no longer an option – it’s simply a fact of life.” n
