IdleAire launches fourth electrified travel centre

ATLANTA, Ga. – IdleAire Technologies Corporation recently opened the first phase of its planned $2.5 million advanced travel centre electrification (ATE) system at the Petro Stopping Centre on I-285.

Atlanta is the fourth deployment of the new IdleAire system, which enables long-haul truckers to turn off their engines instead of idling to provide power for heat and air conditioning and in-cab accessories.

Idle-free zones make for a more comfortable rest for drivers, cleaner air, less noise, less engine wear and also savings on fuel economy.

The IdleAire system delivers these services to the cab via a module that fits in the truck window using an adapter that drivers carry with them.

Drivers select a service using a computer touch screen.

In addition to controlled heat and air, the service package includes Internet services, USB connections, telephone services, television connections and electrical outlets.

The cost of the basic service is US$1.25 per hour for owner/operators and fleets that have signed agreements with IdleAire.

Drivers swipe a fleet card, credit card or pre-paid IdleAire card through the service module’s integral card reader to pay for the service and IdleAire shares the revenue with the travel centre owners.
