Many enter trucking as a second career, as research by the Canadian Trucking Human Resources Council indicates. Clearly, trucking does not get many applicants younger than 25, as happens with many trades or tradesrelated occupations. Almost one-third of licence test participants in the CTHRC study were in the 35-44 age category and almost a quarter were more than 45 years of age. Test participants were most likely working in the transport sector already, but not necessarily as truck drivers.
