TORONTO, Ont. – John Cyopeck, the president and CEO of Canpar Transport, has been named the Canadian Courier Association’s first-ever Courier Executive of the Year.

“The purpose of the Executive Of The Year Award is to recognize an individual who, in the past year, has demonstrated excellence in five key areas, including leadership/vision, industry support, business acumen, integrity/ethics and corporate citizenship,” said Gary Breininger, executive director of the association.

Specifically, Cyopeck was honored for his work in E-commerce, forming an alliance with a retail-based business services firm, achieving a high on-time delivery performance, and delivering tens of thousands of dollars to charities including the The Children’s Wish Fund. He also played a key role in the establishing of an alliance last January between the CCA and the Ontario Trucking Association and Canadian Trucking Alliance.

Other nominees included Scott Corrigan, president of UPS Canada, Allan Kaufman, vice-president of legal affairs at UPS Canada, Randy Padley, Ontario region operations manager for Greyhound Courier, and Ted Viegener, Eastern Canada regional manager for Tiger Courier. n
