GOLDEN, B.C. - The provinces of Alberta and B.C. have chosen Golden, B.C. as the site of the first joint commercial inspection station.

GOLDEN, B.C. – The provinces of Alberta and B.C. have chosen Golden, B.C. as the site of the first joint commercial inspection station.

The scale is slated to be built on Hwy. 1, 21 kms west of Golden and will work for both east and westbound traffic.

“By working together, our two provinces are finding practical solutions to improve government services and save taxpayers money,” said B.C. Transportation Minister, Kevin Falcon.

“Benefits will be realized by the trucking industry and the taxpayers in our two provinces, as we look at options towards jointly staffing, and sharing traveller information messaging and technology. It’s a win for everyone.”

The new scale will feature Weigh in Motion (WIM) technology that will allow vehicles equipped with transponders to be weighed and monitored while travelling at highway speeds.

The new facility is expected to cost about $12 million which will be cost-shared by the two provinces. Construction is expected to begin in the fall and is slated for completion by November, 2005.

Two of the officers at donald i belive it was Tom and Dave pulled me in for a random inspection. I had some minor issues and instead of pulling out a ticket book they sat there and went over things with me and answering questions and being very understanding. Probably the best and most informant inspection ive ever had in my 10+ years driving comercially.
