KINGSTON, Ont. – If its first meeting following a shift towards education is any indication, the Kingston Centennial Transportation Club (KCTC) certainly seems to be heading down the right road.

More than 75 individuals, many of whom quickly became KCTC members if they weren’t previously, packed Mino’s Village to hear training seminars on the transportation of dangerous goods and the oft-delayed AMPS program. A mini-trade show followed, which gave fleet owners and administrators the opportunity to chat with regional suppliers and service providers.

“I think things went very well,” says the group’s president, Bob Ferguson. “We’ve had a lot of great people turn out and we’ve ended up with a tremendous range of people (from across the transportation industry).”

Ferguson was among those selected to lead the membership for another year. After last night’s election, the board also consists of John Wood, Ken Davies, Bill Cookman, Constance Pitirri, Dave Mace and Jim Trott.

One of the highlights of the evening’s festivities saw David Bradley, president of the Ontario Trucking Association, take the podium to identify challenges currently facing the industry.

“Whenever you have David Bradley as a speaker, the event is always well attended,” says Ferguson.

The next event for the KCTC will take on a little more sociable feel. The group is planning a Thousand Islands boat cruise out of Rockport on May 14.
