KIRKLAND, Wash. – Kenworth has announced its T800 can now be spec’d with a front engine power take-off (FEPTO).

The FEPTO is designed particularly for snowplow, municipal dump, mixer, refuse and crane applications, the company says. The new configuration also provides a front frame extension for applications requiring front-mounted equipment such as hydraulic rams or hose reels. It’s available for order with Cat C11 and C13 engines up to 380 hp as well as the Cummins ISL engine up to 350 hp.

“Kenworth’s new FEPTO option is something for customers to seriously consider, especially by those operators preparing to spec’ and purchase snowplows for future winter use,” said Steve Gilligan, Kenworth general marketing manager. “We also expect to see interest from many specialized customers in municipal dump, mixer, refuse and crane configurations.”

The T800 short hood FEPTO package includes features such as extended front frame rails with a 66-inch bumper setting in the dimensions of 11-5/8″x3/8″, 10-3/4″x3/8″ and 10-11/16″x3/8″. It also includes a unique 950 sq. in. radiator including a modified bottom tank for PTO shaft clearance.

The rad-mounted grille allows the hood to be tilted for daily under-hood inspections and prevents the grille from touching the plow, pump or other front-mounted equipment. The cab and hood are also raised 3.5-inches on the FEPTO model to provide PTO shaft clearance, the company says.
