LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Kenworth has added a new Class 6 T300 with air brakes to its medium-duty truck lineup.

The new 25,000 lb. GVWR truck was introduced at the Mid-America Trucking Show. It will be targeted towards pickup and delivery applications, company officials announced at the show.

“We’re excited to offer the popular Kenworth T300, featuring outstanding quality, performance and durability, in an additional Class 6 weight rating to pickup and delivery and other customers in the growing Class 6 air brake market,” said Gary Moore, Kenworth assistant general manager for marketing and sales.

Demand for Class 6 and 7 trucks has been steadily increasing in recent years and it’s a trend Kenworth expects will continue.

“We anticipate that Class 6 customers will welcome this new 8,000 lb. front and 17,000 lb. rear axle combination for T300s with air brakes, especially as freight becomes more regionalized and companies increasingly use non-CDL product alternatives to staff their driver needs,” said Moore.

The new medium-duty offering will be available with Cummins ISB and ISC engines as well as the Caterpillar C7. A low profile chassis featuring 19.5-inch wheels and tires is also available, as well as a 22.5-inch option.

The T300 will now come standard with a few new features, including the door pads that were previously offered only on the company’s Class 8 tractors.

Power door locks, passenger-side electric windows, a locking glove box and heating and air conditioning will also become standard on the T300 Class 6 and 7 vehicles, the company said.

New options will include remote keyless entry and a low voltage disconnect system that continuously monitors battery voltage.
