LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Kenworth truck executives voiced optimism about the company’s business prospects for 2005 at the recent World of Concrete convention in Las Vegas, Nev.

“That’s especially good news as Kenworth’s T800 and W900S models, featuring their high level of quality, durability and cab comfort, especially excel in the construction market,” said Steve Gilligan, general marketing manager with Kenworth Trucks.

“Kenworth’s reception of the 2004 J.D. Power and Associates award for ‘Highest in Customer Satisfaction among Vocational Segment Class 8 Trucks’ shows that customers continue to hold our vocational trucks in high esteem.”

Solid construction market

“We anticipate a solid construction market overall in 2005 and that was reflected in the positive comments by attendees at the show,” added Gilligan.

“Heavy construction spending looks strong with projects planned in highways, power and transportation. Gains are also expected in nonresidential spending, such as security-related projects, healthcare facilities and hotels.”

Kenworth’s W900S and T800 vocational models were on display at the World of Concrete show.

“The W900S with its 28-inch bumper setting is a popular solution for mixer and other applications that need to meet federal bridge formula regulations,” Gilligan said.

“The Kenworth T800 Extended Day Cab, which provides more leg and head room and additional storage space, drew great interest from customers operating standard mixers,” Gilligan said.

Kenworth also gives customers the option to spec’ Allison automatic transmissions on these models.

Autoboxes popular

“Many mixer customers are switching from manual transmissions because of benefits in cycle times, reduced driver fatigue and improved operating efficiency,” Gilligan said.

Next up for Kenworth will be ConExpo-Con/Agg 2005 on March 15-19 in Las Vegas.

“We’re constantly enhancing our trucks for the vocational markets and plan to have innovations ready for ConExpo-Con/Agg,” said Gilligan.

“Our broad lineup of truck models, custom engineering expertise, low life-cycle costs and extensive Kenworth dealer support, give construction customers plenty of workplace choices to boost their productivity and cost effectiveness.”
