LEHIGH VALLEY, Pa. – Mack Trucks closed 2000 with 28,210 U.S. Class 8 retail sales, snatching 13.3 per cent of the market.

That was up from 13.1 per cent in 1999, making Mack the only U.S. maker of Class 8 trucks to boost its market share over the last eight years. U.S. truck sales dropped sharply in 2000, with total retail volume falling nearly 20 per cent, to 211,507 vehicles.

Mack Canada sold 2,848 units – increasing its market share here from 9.3 in 1999 per cent to 10.2 per cent in 2000. n
