Making a case for cabovers

BLENHEIM, Ont. – This unit is owned by Dave Carey of Carey Leasing, based out of Blenheim, Ont., Carey began driving in 1976 in a truck very similar to this one.

He launched his own trucking company in 1981 and now operates 32 trucks. This truck is a 1979 TranStar II cabover with a 48-ft. Fruehauf trailer. The engine is a 400 hp Cummins. It has a 254-inch wheelbase and the frame has been stretched seven feet. About 250 hours of body work and painting went into this truck.
