Dana Corporation’s Commercial Vehicle Systems unit has shifted into gear its new Dana Spicer Air Disc Brake System for Class 7 and 8 vehicles.

The new system – Extended Service Disc model ESD225 for 22.5-inch and 24.5-inch wheels – comes equipped with proprietary linings and rotor designs for longer life and exceptional performance.

“The Dana Spicer Air Disc Brake System offers more consistent torque output from brake to brake, improving stopping distance, steering stability, and driver comfort,” says Jim Clark, chief engineer – brakes, ride and control systems.

“The Air Disc Brake System is now in production in North America and has proven compatibility when used in combination with North American drum brakes.

“The Air Disc System is now available for steer, drive, and trailer axles.”

The Dana Spicer Air Disc Brake System features a simplistic design that reduces both weight and cost.

The unhanded caliper design with four enclosed slide pins provides superior caliper support, minimal slide pin wear, reduced lining and rotor wear, and lighter weight.
