PLAINFIELD, Ind. – ArvinMeritor has launched production of a line of remanufactured trailer axles. Initially the reman’d axles will be aimed at intermodal carriers, the company announced recently. Production began in September at the company’s Plainfield, Ind. manufacturing facility.

“This is a natural expansion of our remanufactured offerings and builds on our company’s long-time trailer axle expertise,” said Doug Wolma, general manager of ArvinMeritor’s remanufacturing business. “The customers and end-users recognize the value of our remanufactured components, and to offer trailer axles as part of our portfolio is fully complementary to our strong OE offerings.”

The company said its remanufactured trailer axles are produced to strict engineering specifications. The company has long been remanufacturing other components such as axle differentials, brake shoes, transmissions, wedge brake actuators, wedge brake cylinders and transfer cases.
