Moving on Up: Trailers Canada Gets New HQ

by Katy de Vries

BRESLAU, Ont. – Until a few weeks ago, an old farmhouse nestled in what was once a very rural countryside served as the home of RNS, the parent company of Trailers Canada.

The company had been running its operations out of that farmhouse since 1965 but that all changed May 20, with the official opening of Trailer Canada’s new and much more modern facility.

Just a mile away

The company’s new HQ is only a mile down the road.

The new facility, situated on a 16-acres, is about 24,000 square feet and has two complete drive-throughs each 148 feet long, five complete bays, modern lighting, high ceilings and lots of open space – everything a trailer shop needs, according to Conny Weyers, president of Trailers Canada.

“So far, it has more than met our expectations, we are really happy here,” said Weyers.

“It is really something when you draw a building on a piece of paper and then it materializes in front of you.”

Trailers Canada’s 18 employees have actually been working from the new building since late February, but after the open house, it’s now official.

More than 400 people turned out for the chance to party Hillbilly style with the crew from Trailers Canada.

Hillbilly fun

“And so I wanted a theme for our open house and I wanted something that was relaxed and fun so we went with the Hillbilly theme,” said Weyers.

Big Events of Guelph, Ont. helped put on the open house.

“I had many calls from people wanting to see the new facility, probably because it was such a drastic change, so we decided to do it right and invite everybody in to see it,” said Weyers.

The drastic change in venue has definitely been a step in the right direction, he added.

“We used to see a lot of our equipment out of the back of a pick-up truck but it worked and we had to start somewhere, but now it’s onward and upward and we have been really happy in our new home,” Weyers said.

Trailers Canada sells new and used Doepker and Stoughton trailers and is a full parts and service dealer.
