MTA awards province’s safest drivers (September 01, 2005)

WINNIPEG, Man. – The Manitoba Trucking Association (MTA) recently acknowledged some of the province’s best drivers through its Driver of the Month awards.

Presentations were recently made to the winners from the months January through June. The awards were sponsored by Custom Truck Sales and Canadian Kenworth and were doled out to drivers with exemplary safety records as well as exceptional customer service skills and dedication to the job.

The awards were presented by Vic Switzer, MTA president and Jim Clark of Custom Truck Sales.

The winners included: Ken Wiebe, Ram Messenger, January; David Bielski, Trans-X, February; Ken Antcliff, Ridsdale Transport, March; Gerald Laggo, Jade Transport, April; Ben Dyck, Bison Transport, May; and Grant Cheadle, Trans-X, June.

Collectively, the drivers represented more than 166 years and more than 13.9 million miles of driving experience.

Dyck alone has driven professionally for 36 years and accrued 4.5 million accident-free miles.
