SAINT JOHN, N.B. – A French radio station that Saint John francophones could call their own is $31,000 closer to becoming a reality.

The local francophone community association recently received funding from Heritage Canada, a branch of the Canadian federal government.

The grant will help with market studies to help identify what Saint John area francophones want out of a French community radio station.

The money will also help the association figure out what its technical needs are for such a station.

The Radio Saint-Jean project recently celebrated its official launch at an uptown bar, attracting 100 people to the event.
