MONCTON, N.B. – The Department of Transportation is simplifying spring weight restrictions to the benefit of the trucking industry.

Spring weight restrictions for 2004 were implemented throughout New Brunswick as of midnight March 14. They should be lifted at midnight May 23. Weight restrictions for trucks are imposed during the spring thaw period to protect the highway system. Previously, the DOT didn’t announce the date the restrictions would be lifted until early May. A list of affected highways should be available on the DOT Web site at www.gnb.ca (keyword: transportation).
