With all the musings of late about fatigue, and how to manage it, I’ve been contacted by the wife of an owner/operator who thinks she’s designed a product that can provide drivers with better rest while on the road. Her husband suffered from fatigue-related symptoms, and she designed for him a gel mattress top that she said has enabled him to sleep better in the truck and has alleviated his fatigue-related symptoms. She thinks she’s on to something here, and is now looking for a few fleets or drivers to test the mattress. She has about a half-dozen test units to offer.

Michelle Davidson was inspired to create the gel mattress based on Dr. Scholl’s massaging gel shoe inserts, which are said to relieve foot pain. Michelle tells me the mattress has been so successful in helping her husband get better rest, that she has entered into a research and consultation phase in hopes of bringing her product to market.
