New dates for Stirling truck show

STIRLING, Ont. – New dates in June have been confirmed for the second annual Eastern Ontario Big Rig Truck Show and Shine.

The show, hosted by the Stirling and District Lions Club, will be held June 15-17 at the Stirling Fairgounds. The group’s inaugural show and shine was held last September, but the new dates will avoid conflicts with other shows and be more convenient for most participants, organizers say.

The format of this year’s event will change, according to show chairman Dave Potts. This year, a NASCAR-style driving competition will be held along with the Show and Shine. Also, visitors to the show may have the opportunity to climb behind the wheel of a big rig and try their hand at driving.

A trade show component will feature more than 60 indoor exhibits as well as outdoor vendors, organizers claim. About 150 volunteers are working behind the scenes to organize this year’s event, which will generate money for local community groups.
