New oil separator released by Chicago Rawhide

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Chicago Rawhide has developed an internal oil separator for its Turbo-2000 and HD-2000 Brakemaster air dryers.

The company made the announcement at the Mid-America Trucking Show, saying the new development will help address compressor oil blow-by. It can be retrofitted to existing dryers already in service.

The oil separator fits inside the air dryer and extracts oil from the air system, protecting the desiccant bed and downstream air system components, the company says.

It’s a self-cleaning part that will be especially useful in heavy-duty applications that are hard on brakes. The separator is made of stainless steel for maximum durability and corrosion resistance, the company says.

In another announcement, Chicago Rawhide said it has teamed up with BorgWarner Cooling Systems to serve as the main distribution source for all Quik-Kool cooling system components in the U.S. and Canada.

Chicago Rawhide says it will be able to grow the aftermarket business, thanks to its wealth of resources. The complete line of cooling system components will be warehoused at Chicago Rawhide’s distribution center in Hebron, Ky.

Chicago Rawhide has also made some personnel changes in recent weeks. William Farrell has been appointed vice-president of the North American Trucks Business Unit while Michael McGrath has been named vice-president of the Vehicle Service Market Sales Business Unit.
