ST. JOHN’S, Nlfd. – Newfoundland has approved about $28 million for the Department of Works, Services and Transportation to cover roadwork early in 2001/02.

The department plans to call tenders for these projects early in January, thereby giving contractors more time to prepare for the work.

Contractors will be able to replenish and repair their equipment earlier and not have to incur the overtime costs associated with a short preparation time.

The department also has $15 million in carry-over projects from last year. n
