OmniTRAX pushes for “Arctic Bridge”

CHURCHILL, Man. - The formation of an "Arctic Bridge" between the Port of Churchill and Russia has taken another step towards fruition.

CHURCHILL, Man. – The formation of an “Arctic Bridge” between the Port of Churchill and Russia has taken another step towards fruition.

OmniTRAX representatives headed to Russia last month to meet with key Russian business and government officials. OmniTRAX owns the Port of Churchill and the Hudson Bay Railway.

Provincial and federal officials from Canada joined OmniTRAX representatives on the trade mission to assist with negotiations aimed at opening up the trade route linking Churchill with the Russian port of Murmansk.

OmniTRAX spokesman Mike Ogborn told Winnipeg media that he hopes to identify Russian businesses that would be interested in accessing the North American market through Churchill.

He says it’s possible a demonstration shipment will be planned to show how easy it will be to move cargo along the route.
