Parked in Havelock

Dear Editor,

I have had my truck parked since Oct. 14, 1999 because I am fed up. The company that I worked for out of Montreal closed its doors and started up the next day under a new name, and left me holding the bag for approximately $16,000. I am in a bit of a quandary as to how Premier Mike Harris and company can be hiring new inspectors, and buying new vehicles and scale facilities if this is not a money grab on the trucking industry .

I believe that, with the high cost of diesel fuel, maintenance and upgrading equipment, it is impossible to make a living, thanks to the high risks and gambles that a truck driver and an owner/operator take on a day-to-day basis.
