PRINCETON, N.J. – PC*Miler 14, the latest version of the routing software, has now merged with the information superhighway that is the Internet.

Among the latest product lines are the Web-enabled PC*Miler/server and PC*Miler/mapping, which have been enhanced with Windows-based Web programming layers containing COM/OLE and Java. With the Web programming tools, users will be able to access PC*Miler functionality through intranet, extranet and Internet Web sites using any Web browser.

Two other Web-enabled versions are expected in the near future, including a hosting capability that will make PC*Miler routing, mileage and mapping data available through other Web sites on a revenue-sharing basis, and a new Web site that will provide a transaction-based version of the software.

The package’s database currently features 657,000 miles of North American roads, and 13,500 new locations, bringing the total to 308,000. The latest version also includes updated 13’6″ height restrictions on the U.S. highway network.

Add-On Data Modules have also been enhanced to include 17,000 additional Standard Point Location Codes (for a total of 112,000), and 45,000 additional six-digit Canadian Postal Codes for a total of 780,000. With more than 40,000 named highway interchanges and 4,000 truck stops, PC*Miler also provides users with a range of features to maximize their return on investment, including Customized Database Management, Hub Mode Routing, Route Optimization, and Specialized Equipment Routing. n
