Neil A. Schilke, general director of engineering and product planning for GM of Canada Ltd., has been named as president of the Society for Automotive Engineers (SAE) International for 2001. He was selected by the Society’s 66-member annual nominating committee in balloting conducted at the annual SAE 2000 World Congress in early March.

Schilke will serve as president-nominee until the general membership balloting is concluded in late October, and will be named president-elect until March 2001. Schilke has been SAE treasurer since 1998.

Sterling Trucks of London, Ont. has announced several recent appointments. John Frank has been made service manager. Frank has more than 24 years of truck dealership and service industry experience. Michael Black was appointed general sales manager. Black boasts more than 21 years experience in the trucking industry. Wayne Turner has been named parts manager. Turner has more than 18 years of industry experience. Meanwhile, George Barber brings more than 11 years of commercial credit experience to his position of business manager.

Mack Trucks has announced the promotion of Paul P. Hozza to vice-president, medium-duty sales and market development. Hozza will be responsible for developing and implementing the short- and long-term sales, distribution and customer support strategies for the Class 4-7 truck market. Hozza, 57, has 35 years of experience in the trucking industry, much of it with Mack.

Meritor Automotive has elected Linda Cummins to the position of senior vice-president, communications. She will direct the global communications efforts for Meritor and have responsibility for communications policy and strategy, investor relations, public relations, executive and employee communications, advertising, product brand strategy, advanced marketing communications, community relations, corporate communications and identity programs. Cummins joins Meritor from United Technologies Automotive, where she was vice-president of advanced marketing and worldwide communications. n
