LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Peterbilt Motors Company introduced the launch of its special edition Model 379X truck at the Mid-America Trucking Show.

Appealing to owner/operators, the 379X is a truck that will further the mystique and passion of the independent operator, says Nick Panza, general manager for Peterbilt and vice-president of parent company PACCAR.

“The 379X embodies the owner/operator spirit of independence, freedom and individuality. It is for the professional truck driver who takes pride in who they are, what they do and what they drive,” says Panza.

Peterbilt is offering its classic design elements on the interior and the exterior of the 379X.

Exterior features of the new model include Peterbilt’s polished aluminum fenders and oval pattern grille with a cleaner intake screen, polished aluminum centerline hood accent and brushed aluminum dash and sleeper trim, seven-inch chromed exhaust stacks, LED auxiliary lighting, chromed Texas-style bumper and extended stainless steel sun visor.

On the interior, the 379X features brushed aluminum dash panels, co-ordinating aluminum cab and sleeper trim, custom leather UltraRide seats, chromed shift lever, knob and base plate and charcoal cabinetry and interior trim.

The special edition polished aluminum-on-chrome themes are incorporated into every detail of the truck, from the special edition logos on the sleeper sides to the X-spoke design of the steering wheel.

Dan Sobic, Peterbilt assistant general manager, says drivers and trucking enthusiasts will connect with the Model 379X.

“This model is for customers who treasure their truck ownership experience. It constantly reinforces the fact that you are a Peterbilt owner who sits behind the wheel of a very special truck,” says Sobic.

The Model 379X begins production in Sept. 2003.
