Petro-Canada has unveiled DURON*-E, the company’s next-generation, heavy-duty engine oil (HDEO) brand for the API CJ-4 category (formerly known as PC-10).

DURON-E will complement the current DURON line of heavy-duty engine oils. It offers enhanced soot fighting capabilities in addition to improved wear protection, oil consumption, and piston deposits versus the previous CI-4 Plus category, according to Petro-Canada.

DURON-E, available in three performance offerings – DURON-E 15W-40, DURON-E XL Synthetic Blend 15W-40 and DURON-E Synthetic 10W-40 – has undergone engine testing and has demonstrated extended drain capabilities in severe service field trials in both EGR and conventional diesel engines, Petro-Canada reports. DURON-E is formulated to meet the latest OEM specifications for their ’07 low emission engines equipped with an advanced exhaust aftertreatment device. DURON-E is back serviceable and carries the API CI-4 Plus, CI-4, CH-4, CG-4 licenses required by pre-’07 diesel engines.
