Photo Radar Legal: Winnipeg Judge
WINNIPEG, Man. – Those charged with photo radar offences in Winnipeg will have to pay their fines, a judge has ruled.
A former city police officer now working for Traffic Ticket Experts had challenged the legality of photo radar in Winnipeg. He questioned wording involving the Highway Traffic Act, however Magistrate Norman Sundstrom said the Act is clear on the issue.
The city has collected about $24 million in photo radar fines since it was introduced in January, 2003.
