MONTREAL, Que. – At its 49th annual convention, the QTA honoured several award winners with plaques. Volvo Canada presented its Driver of the Year award to Francois Payette of Transport Belmire.

This award is presented to a candidate who has been fully employed with the same company for the past 12 months, and who has been accident-free during that period, both in a truck and in any personal vehicle. A nomination form is sent out to all the carriers, and individuals can submit their application to be considered for the prize.

In addition to having satisfied the criteria for best driver in the area of road security and professional comportment, Mr. Payette was also recognized for his driving skills in the “B train” category at the Canadian championship of professional drivers.

There was also a Personality of the Year award, which is decided within the association based on the candidate’s contributions to the industry. The 2000-2001 winner was Daniel Goyette, of C.A.T. Transport Belmire. n
