“Hi! My name is Phyllis Jordan and I’m a truck driver with Kindersley Transport out of Saskatoon, Sask. I make my home in Moose Jaw and I’ve been driving team with my husband Phil for about nine years now.

Most of our family lives in Saskatchewan so our kids and our grandkids take up must of our spare time when we’re not on the road.

At the moment, my husband and I are hotel-dwellers with our stuff in storage while we look for a house, so being on the road suits us just fine!

I usually pick up Truck News from the truck stops but I don’t have any column or type of story in general that I like reading. I just like reading everything because it’s about truckers and what’s happening in the industry: from what’s affecting our salary to the trucks themselves. I also like reading family stories and stories about the little guy.

My pet peeve about the industry right now is how there are too many unprofessional truck drivers on the road.

I don’t know if they haven’t been trained properly or if their attitude just isn’t where it should be, but it gives the rest of us a bad name.

I also like listening to the XM satellite radio when we’re on the road but I wish they had more on there about trucking.

My husband and I have no plans to retire anytime soon.

We’ll be out here until we can’t go anymore. We love it.

We have done office jobs in the past, but we love driving and we’re doing this as our retirement.”
