Reader of the Month: Sean Graham

“Hi! My name is Sean Graham. I’m the president and founder of Freight Wing, a Washington-based company that creates fairings to help make trailers more aerodynamic. I got the idea for our company’s products while performing wind tests on heavy truck models at Penn State University.

“I currently live in Seattle in the Magnolia area, which is a really beautiful place to live in, especially in the summer. One thing I really love about Seattle is being able to have both the ocean and mountains around all the time. In the wintertime, I love to go skiing and one of my favourite destinations is up in Whistler, B.C.

“When I’m out biking in my spare time, it helps me think about how to make trucks more aerodynamic since I’m always out battling against the wind.

“Though I’m a relative newcomer to Truck News magazine, I’m already very impressed with your coverage of the Canadian market. For us at Freight Wing, it’s great to have an “in” to the trucking industry and really find out what people are concerned about right now. It’s also great to note the differences between our two countries and for us to see who the major players are in the Canadian industry.

I think the writing in Truck News is excellent and provides a great length of detail for the reader. Two recent stories that really caught my eye was the one that concerned the Ontario Trucking Association’s bid for mandatory speed limiters on trucks and another one about trailer graphics. I’m probably most impressed at how Truck News is able to have a little bit of everything – from the business stuff to the lighter, personal touches. It’s very fun to read.

“One of the biggest concerns in the trucking industry as a whole right now is the rising cost of fuel, so any articles Truck News has concerning fuel consumption are always foremost in our minds.

“At Freight Wing, we’re hoping to help combat this problem and alleviate fuel costs for fleets by having them use our fairing technology.”
