Safety or Cash Grab?

Dear Editor,

(With regards to “MTO targeted off-duty truckers: OBAC” published on the Truck News Web site at www.trucknews.com)

I, along with many others, have felt since the days of Al Paladini’s enforcement step up, that the issue was not safety. I believe that it was a politically motivated cash grab.

The actions of the MTO near Temiscaming only enforce that opinion.

Most of us try to do the best we can to keep our own equipment safe and compliant. Sometimes because of financial priorities, little things get delayed for a week or two. It is at times like this that most MTO officers lick their lips and pounce in for the kill on the irresponsible trucker.

Shame on them!
