SARNIA, Ont. – Help is on the way to improve the flow of goods across the Sarnia-Port Huron border crossing.

The provincial government recently inked a Memorandum of Understanding with the Blue Water Bridge Authority, that contains an agreement to have the government transfer property at the west end of the plaza to the bridge authority. In return, the authority will make improvements aimed at improving the flow of vehicles from the crossing to Hwy. 402.

The memorandum also indicated the province will continue to work closely with the bridge authority to continue finding ways to improve the flow of goods and people across the busy point of entry.

“This is good news for the people of Sarnia, Port Edward and for those across southwestern Ontario,” says Ontario Premier, Ernie Eves. “We are committed to improving the security and efficiency of our border crossings, enhancing the conditions for trade, ensuring a strong economy and protecting jobs for Ontarians.”

Meanwhile, the province indicated it will move forward to complete the preliminary design and environmental work to improve the operation of Hwy. 402 from the Blue Water Bridge Authority plaza to Airport Road.
