Shell Lubricants’ Shell ROTELLA T Multigrade 15W-40 and Pennzoil Long-Life 15W-40 Heavy Duty Engine Oil have met the new Mack EO-N Premium Plus 03 specification, allowing both brands for use in all Mack engines.

Mack issued the new specification guidelines on September 16, 2003.

“The specification describes engines oils to be used in Mack ASET AC and AI 2002/2003 emission certified engines,” said Greg Shank, staff engineer – lubrication, filtration & coolant technology for Mack Powertrain. “Shell ROTELLA T and Pennzoil Long-Life have been evaluated and have met our specification.”

The new Mack EO-N Premium Plus 03 specification required additional testing to validate that heavy-duty motor oils meet increased performance standards in four primary areas. These include the ability to manage higher levels of soot; the ability to better resist shearing; improved seal compatibility; and a new, minimum Total Base Number (TBN).
