Slow down for construction crews

Dear Editor,

Re:new legislation to control speeding past construction workers and emergency vehicles (in Alberta).

I think this is an excellent idea in theory but how are they planning to enforce it?

Is the policeman at an accident scene going to drop everything and chase the idiot who speeds by?

How about the flag person on the construction crew, is he or she going to have time to get a licence number?

On a paved site, possibly, but more often than not they are going to be too busy dodging flying rocks.

I think enforcement is going to be a problem, but if this problem is overcome then it will be a good thing.

I also think that it should include vehicles broken down on the side of the road.

In my own experience I have many times slowed down for a tow truck and tried to move over to give him more room, only to have the driver behind me go flying by with either his (or her) hand on the horn or one finger in the air out the window.
