OTTAWA, Ont. – City drivers, your knowledge is needed.

FleetSmart plans to develop a SmartDriver training program and produce technical publications to help operators in the urban commercial transportation business. This program will help reduce your fuel consumption and reduce your operating costs. Your input will ensure that this program meets your specific needs.

“Come on board as a volunteer,” says the federal group. “FleetSmart is looking for volunteers to form a committee to help us develop the program.”

Volunteers, with experience as both a driver and as an owner or manager, are needed from communities across Canada and from a variety of business sectors, including taxi, courier, trucking, and pick-up and delivery services, and construction vehicles, such as aggregate haulers. Some background in training would be an asset, but is not required.

“Initially, your contribution will be to offer your time and share your knowledge,” says FleetSmart. “You will be asked to attend two meetings via teleconferencing and two meetings in person, either in or out of Ottawa.”

To participate, e-mail fleetsmart@nrcan.gc.ca.
