Staff Member Receives Safety Award

CALGARY, Alta. – The Alberta Motor Transport Association’s (AMTA’s) Southern Alberta injury reduction and training advisor, John Tessier, has received a prestigious safety award.

Tessier received the Outstanding Service Award which was presented by the National Association of Safety Professionals (NASP) and its parent organization the International Association of Safety Professionals (IASP). IASP acts as a consultative advisor on workplace health and safety issues to the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. Its goal is to promote higher standards of workplace health and safety around the world.

The presentation was made at the National Truck Driving Championships in Lethbridge, Alta on Sept. 18. John Sengl of Canadian Freightways presented Tessier with the prestigious award.

The award is presented to those who demonstrate the highest levels of achievement and commitment to workplace health and safety. Tessier also received a lifetime membership into the NASP/IASP organizations as a result of his lifetime efforts towards improving workplace health and safety.

The AMTA announced “Both the Alberta Motor Transport Association and the trucking industry would like to express our sincere congratulations to John for all of his accomplishments and on winning this prestigious award.”
