LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Western Star Trucks has introduced a walk-through sleeper for its Constellation Class 8 highway tractor that “even the tallest drivers will be able to do jumping jacks in,” according to John Merrifield, senior vice-president, sales and marketing for Sterling and Western Star.

A first for Western Star, the option provides stand-up room throughout the cab and sleeper compartment. The option, which comes in 70-inch and 82-inch sizes, will be available also on the Constellation 4964EX beginning in the fourth quarter of this year.

The new sleeper has 96 inches of stand-up room at the front of the bunk and at the back of the driver’s seat. In developing the walk-through sleeper, Western Star also added a number of consoles, cabinets and other options.

Leading the list of new features is an overhead console that provides additional storage space, as well as locations for the CB radio, speakers, reading lights, a clock and outside air temperature read-out and other items. Western Star will offer a new raised, double-bunk option with the walk-through sleeper, as well. n
