PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Sunoco has once again improved and re-launched its enhanced diesel fuel, Gold Diesel. The new and improved additive package has several unique features, according to company officials.

Gold Diesel has a higher cetane rating which is designed for quicker starts (especially in cold weather) and a smoother running engine with less white smoke. Another cold weather feature is a de-icer which is designed to help prevent water freeze-ups and filter-plugging ice crystal formation.

Over the long term, officials say Gold Diesel users can expect to see a cleaner engine due to improved detergency in the fuel. The detergent is designed to keep engine parts clean, especially fuel injectors, which will ensure maximum power and fuel economy and minimized emissions.

The increased lubricity improver is designed to add even more lubrication to fuel pumps and injectors, and improved stabilizers and corrosion inhibitors are designed to ensure that fuel doesn’t decompose or attack fuel system components. Sunoco officials say this will reduce the need for maintenance over the life of a diesel engine.
