TRURO, N. S. –The Truckers Association of Nova Scotia (TANS) and its associated trades members dug deep to raise more than $11,000 for local charities.

The IWK Hospital and Early Intervention Nova Scotia were the beneficiaries of this year’s fundraising efforts by TANS. It’s the tenth consecutive year that TANS has supported two charities, explained Wayne Onda, executive director of TANS.

Fundraising initiatives included: 50/50 draws; associated trades raffles; a TANS charity bear auction; and member donations. A grand total of $11,200 was split between the two charities.

TANS chair Donald Whynot recently presented IWK Hospital with a check for $5,600 and vice-chair Bill Dowe was able to present Early Intervention Nova Scotia with an identical amount.

“TANS proudly thanks everyone involved in supporting our communities in this way,” Onda said.
