The Cliff Year: Not As Bad As Expected

Class 8 truck sales in Canada finished the year at 25, 239 units, well within the 24,000-26,000 range forecasted by Transportation Media. The Class 8 trucks sold in 2007 were about 14,000 units short of the record sales posted in 2006 and about 4,000 short of the average for the previous five years. However, the drop in sales from the previous year, bad as it was, did not prove as steep as the most pessimistic scenarios postulated, coming in at about 35% instead of the up to 40% drop some experts forecast. The 25,239 Class 8 trucks sold made 2007 the fourth worst sales year since 1999.
