Timken elects new directors

CANTON, Ohio. – Jacqueline Woods has joined The Timken Company’s board of directors, for a three-year term. Woods has served as president of Ameritech Ohio, a subsidiary of SBC Communications Inc., since 1993.

“Jacqueline is a proven leader who brings to our board a wealth of knowledge about the fast-growing electronic communications industry,” said W. R. Timken, Jr., chairman and chief executive officer.

Also at the meeting, Stanley C. Gault, John M. Timken, Jr. and W. R. Timken, Jr. were re-elected as directors for three-year terms.

The remaining eight directors are: James W. Griffith, John A. Luke, Jr., Ward J. Timken and Martin D. Walker, whose terms expire in 2001, and J. Clayburn La Force, Jr., Robert W. Mahoney, Jay A. Precourt and Joseph F. Toot, Jr., whose terms expire in 2002.

Alton W. Whitehouse also retired from the company’s board of directors. Whitehouse, retired chairman and chief executive officer of Standard Oil, had been a director since 1986. n
