Transport Canada announces latest recalls
OTTAWA, Ont. – Transport Canada has unveiled its latest lists of recalls, this time focusing on selected Mack, Peterbilt, Kenworth and Volvo models.
1998-99 Mack CX chassis: These trucks do not comply with Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108 – Lighting System and Retroreflective Devices. The headlamp assemblies have reversed the identifications of low and high beams on the front lens. The issue will be corrected with adhesive labels affixed to the left-hand and right-hand headlamp buckets. Both the labels and instructions will be mailed to vehicle owners.
1997-98 Peterbilts with Caterpillar 3406E engines: Peterbilt’s engine wiring may chafe with Caterpillar fuel lines near the fuel filter housing on the left side of the engine.Engine wiring and fuel lines will be inspected and repaired or replaced as necessary.
1999-2000 Kenworth TC2000: A Honeywell-Bendix E-8P brake valve may allow water to contaminate the air brake system. This could cause the valve to freeze and affect brake performance. The valve will be sealed and the brake plunger replaced. The air system will also be inspected and purged of any moisture.
1988-93 Volvo ACL, FE, WAH, WCA, WCL, WCM, WCS, WG, WHL, WHR, WHS, WIA, WIL, WIM trucks: The mounting plate of Fontaine lightweight fixed position fifth wheels may crack in the area where the legs of the fifth wheel are welded to the base plate. If cracks are found, the base plates will be replaced. n
