SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Transportation Media editorial director Lou Smyrlis was invited to moderate a panel on outsourcing at the recent Supply Chain & Logistics Summit held in Scottsdale, Ariz.

The panel led by Smyrlis included Ted Augustine, who runs the supply chain for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., and Christopher McFarlane of Unicity Integrated Logistics, a Winnipeg-based third-party logistics provider.

The pervasive trend in outsourcing is an evolution towards deeper more integrated relationships between clients and their outsourcing services providers, Smyrlis told buyers and providers of transportation services in attendance.

“This is a process by which we believe companies are seeking to progress from tactical to strategic relationships,” Smyrlis explained.

Smyrlis has also been invited by Supply Chain and Logistics Canada to speak on salary trends in transportation and logistics at a special association breakfast in February and he is also scheduled to present the results from the first annual Transportation Buying Trends Survey at the Transpo Show and Conference in March.
