DON MILLS, Ont. – Truck News, Truck West and Motortruck are proud to announce the return of John G. Smith as a contracted monthly columnist covering equipment-related issues.

Many of you will remember John G. from his days as editor of Truck News and Truck West and for the passion and deep understanding he showed for equipment-related industry issues.

John G. is also the author of Big Rigs – In for the Long Haul, a book on trucks around the world published by Strathearn Books Ltd., and has been a finalist in the Kenneth R. Wilson Awards, the Pulitzer Prize for Canadian business journalism.

You can expect to see his insightful coverage on equipment-related issues in every issue of our publications.

The winners of our ongoing contest to see who could correctly identify the “mystery man” coming back to the Truck News team are: David Asprey, Ron Gervais and Richard Hignett.

New on-road editor

We are also proud to announce the appointment of Harry Rudolfs to the new position of on-road editor. Harry is the rare combination of a journalist and trucker.

As a driver he has logged over a million miles, both interprovincially and internationally and understands the industry from a level that only the people behind the wheel can.

As a journalist he has been submitting thought-provoking features to Truck News for about a decade. One of those features, “Truckers of Colour” received honourable mention in the KRW Awards. He has also served as a consultant and researcher for the Highway Workplace: the Canadian Trucker’s Story – a travelling and virtual museum designed to provide the public with a unique glimpse into the working lives and culture of the Canadian trucker.

We look forward to the unique perspective Harry will bring to our publications.
